Gladys L. Wilhite, 87 of Decatur, AL passed away on October 14, 2024. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12 PM at Trinity Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life Service to follow with Rev. Greg Burnett, and Rev. Andrew Wenzler officiating. She will be laid to rest at Decatur City Cemetery.
Gladys Wilhite is survived by her two daughters, Kim Wenzler (Andy) of Decatur, AL and Debbie Mitchell (Jack) of Decatur, AL; two stepdaughters, Tami Glenn (Tom) of Moulton, AL and Dana K. Wilhite of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Will Mitchell (Emily) of Decatur, AL, Erin Phillips (Austin) of Murfreesboro, TN, Andrew Wenzler (Peyton) of Birmingham, AL, Haley Odom (Andrew) of Opelika, AL, Thomas Glenn (Brianna) of Moulton, AL, and Taylor Glenn (Kaci) of Moulton, AL; 12 great grandchildren, one brother, David Dowty; one sister, Gracie McCallister, and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wilhite; her parents, Lorena and Clarence Dowty; brother, Daniel Dowty and sister, Hazel Huffman.
Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She devoted her time to her church and her family. Gladys lovingly cared for her dear husband for many years, and she adored being “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gladys was a member of the Pilot Club and taught Sunday School at Trinity Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Will Mitchell, Andrew Wenzler, Thomas Glenn, Taylor Glenn, Austin Phillips and Andrew Odom.
