Mrs. Gladys Bond, age 83 of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed away Monday night, October 24, 2016 at her home. She was the widow of Mr. Eddie James Bond, Sr., who preceded her in death March 20, 2013.
Gladys Rebecca Bond was born on Friday, September 22, 1933, to the late Isaac Chalmus Stephens and Virginia Viola McDermott Stephens in Cherry Valley, Arkansas. On September 12, 1953, she married Eddie James Bond, Sr., who passed away in March of 2013. Gladys was a retired switch-board operator. She was a member of the Willow Oaks Pentecostal Church in Memphis and Parrans Chapel Baptist Church in Bolivar, TN. She loved animals, caring for them and nursing them back to health, and she loved reading, especially scripture. She lived in Memphis for most of her life until she resided in Bolivar for the past seventeen years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Becky Bond Collins of Bolivar, and Lisa Bond Seawright (Rickey) of Olive Branch, MS; three grandchildren, Jenny Riley, Alexis Bond, and Ryan Seawright; two great-grandchildren, Gina Riley and Gary Riley; a nephew, James Smith; and one niece, Darlene Williams. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Bond, Jr.; and a brother, Oneal Stephens.
