Gladys Annette Thompson Gurganus of Pleasantfield, AL passed peacefully on April 19th, 2024. She was born on July 21, 1938, to Robert & Daisy Thompson in her hometown of Hartselle, AL.
She is preceded by death by her husband, Bruce Gurganus; daughter, Penny Dye; and Thompson siblings, Estell, Russell, Nora, Flora, Francis, Willard, & Dewey “Buddy”.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Sandra), Phillip “Skeet” (Alison), Rita, Wayne (Kathy), & Phillip (Rachel) Gurganus; son-in-law, Steve Dye; siblings, Joe Thompson & Elizabeth Prater; and a host of grand and great grandchildren.
She leaves a legacy of love to her family and friends. She will be especially remembered by her delicious Sunday lunches, a natural gift for gardening, and a love for hummingbirds.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm led by Stan Waid. Family and friends will gather for burial immediately after at Pleasantfield Cemetery.
