Gilbert Preston Boyd, 73 of Athens, passed away on Monday, September 5th, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Boyd was born on September 1st, 1949, to Orin Gilbert Boyd and Ila Hagood Boyd.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife Barbara Faye Boyd; grandson Joshua Brown (Christin); daughter Gretta Buchanan (Shane); sister Linda Mize (Terry); granddaughter Lauren Buchanan; great-grandchildren Layla, Winston, and Hudson Brown; brothers-in-law Barry and Allen Sutton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter Michelle Brown Garner; and father and mother-in-law Billy and Maggie Sutton.
Funeral services for Mr. Boyd will be Friday, September 9th, 2022, at 11:00am at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Britt Thompson and Daniel Tucker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Boyd valiantly fought cancer for twelve years. He was a member of Cartwright Church of Christ. He loved his church family, and most importantly, his family.
