Gideon Harris Reding – Obituary

gideonGideon Harris Reding, 85, of Courtland went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, June 12, 2016. His funeral will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Courtland Baptist Church with Bro. Scotty Letson and Bro. Sam Wallace officiating and Jackson Memory funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr Reding was born in Lawrence County Dec. 6, 1930 to Marshall and Lucy Reding. He retired from Courtland Utilities in 1987 after 31 years of service. He was sergeant first class in the Korean War. He was a member and deacon of Courtland Baptist Church for 43 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Angus, Hoover and Don Reding; sisters, Meriam Causby, Sarah McGowan, Geneve Reneau and Mozell Cross and grandson, Marshall Reding.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Liddie Mae Reding; his son, Boyd Reding and his daughter-in-love, Vicky Reding of Rogersville. Granddaughters whom he dearly loved, Amanda Reding of Rogersville and Allison Lansdell and her husband, Orrie Lansdell of Town Creek.

Pallbearers will be Dan Simmons, Timmy Dutton, Chad Hughes, Donald Reding, Eric Ivie and Dennis Brackin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ambrey Reding, his Sunday school class which he enjoyed teaching for over 20 years and the deacons of Courtland Baptist Church. Special thanks to Stella Ray, Christine Cal, Lori Givens, Mary Cochran and Toni Reed. Also special thanks to Christy and staff of Alacare Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Courtland Baptist Church or Alacare Hospice.
