Juanita Blevins “Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant” is what we imagine “Grandma” heard in the wee hours of September 10, 2021, as Geta Juanita Blevins went to meet her creator and be reunited with her husband, Pete, and son Lynn.

Juanita was born in Violet Hill, AR, on March 2, 1924, to the late Chester and Lela Mae Melton. Tall for her family, she played basketball for her high school team. During a double date, Pete and Juanita left during the middle of a movie, got married by a justice of the peace, then returned to finish the film. No one knew about the marriage until it came out in the paper. Juanita and Pete owned and ran “Pete’s Cleaners” in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where they raised all 5 of their children. Juanita was a talented seamstress who constantly hummed to herself while working through complicated alterations on a variety of clothing. Faithful, friendly, and with a contagious smile, Juanita was soft-spoken and kind. Her slight chuckle was synonymous with her spirit. In Mountain Home, she attended First Baptist Church regularly and then continued to worship at First Family after she and Pete moved to Columbia, TN in 2002. She taught Sunday School for approximately sixty years. After Pete’s passing, she found friendship with the ladies of her church group, playing cards, Rummikub, and going on adventures. Juanita’s greatest accomplishments are the list of survivors below. She spoke and commented shortly before passing that she saw God. We rest in the knowledge of reunion. Grandma and her sweet smile will be missed.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in the Arbors family mausoleum on the grounds of Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Her son Glen Blevins will officiate the service.

Juanita is survived by her three sons: Arnold (Louise) Blevins of Branson, MO, Glen (SuElla) Blevins of Little Rock, AR, and Alan Blevins of Columbia, TN; her daughter: Karen Aigner of Nashville, TN; daughter-in-law, Carol Blevins; grandchildren: David (Marsha) Blevins of Kremmling, Colorado, Daniel (Roberta) Blevins of Branson, MO, Matthew (Melissa) Taylor of Sherwood, AR, Joel (Nicole) Taylor Sherwood, AR, Angela (Josh) Miller of Sherwood, AR, Travis (Nicki) Blevins of Mountain Home, AR, Tarina (Kevin) Bodenhamer of Mountain Home, AR, Lacy Wilber of Nashville, TN, Cara Ladd of Nashville, TN, Tonya (Shawn) Jenkins of Prattville, AL, Lauren (Hannah) Hogan of Columbia, TN and John (Ashlyn) Blevins of Columbia, TN. She is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren and cousins.
