Gerry Blake Earnest died peacefully on March 25, 2024 just one day shy of his 76th birthday. He was raised in Selma Alabama and was a 1966 graduate of Albert G. Parrish High School and The University of Montevallo. He was a resident of Jacksonville Alabama at the time of his death.
Blake is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Janice Yates Earnest, his daughter Ashley Earnest Brock (Jeff) of Evergreen AL; two sons, Brian Earnest (Jenifer) of Andalusia AL and Josh Gunning of Jacksonville, Alabama. His sister Dayle Earnest Munn (Rocky) of Stockbridge, Ga. And brother Clint Earnest (Nancy) of Marietta, Ga. And beloved cousin Darrell Earnest (Darlene) of Earnest Road, Berry, Al
His grandchildren are Hunter Blake Earnest (Caroline) of Moody, Alabama. Reagan Wild Hanks (Hunter) of Monroeville, AL. ; Taylor Earnest and his fiancee Rachel of Prattville, AL, ; Charlie Brock of Dallas, TX.; Grayson R. Marlowe of Tuscaloosa, Al.; Mary Trainham Brock of Evergreen, Al.; Luke Gunning of Jacksonville, Alabama.; and Annabelle Gunning of Jacksonville, AL.
Included as his survivors are many loved in-laws, nieces and nephews
Blake was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Bertha Earnest of Selma, Al.
Blake was so proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them deeply. He loved music of all kinds and he sang “blue eyed soul music” with several popular bands out of Selma. He was an avid reader and loved playing golf. He was a true University of Alabama fan.
He treasured the lifelong friendships of his Sigma brothers of the University of Montevallo . Lastly … he adored his sweet Bama the wonder dog and Cracker and Jojo.
As he wished …. No formal funeral service will be held.
