Gerline Weaver Priest of Estill Springs passed this life on Thursday, October 17, 2024, 9:30 AM at her farm, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and family at the age of 98.
Ms. Priest was born on March 22, 1926, in the Awalt Community in Estill Springs, Tennessee to the late Charlie Willard Weaver and Ruby Lela Shasteen Weaver. As a young adult, Ms. Priest was employed by the Genesco Shoe Factory. In 1956, she obtained her beautician license. Shortly after, she owned and operated Gerline’s Beauty Shop in Manchester before marrying and beginning her family. She was a member at Little Hurricane Baptist Church in Estill Springs and loved her church community. She had a green thumb and was thrifty, industrious and outgoing. She was always up for a rook or board game and mastered several video gaming systems. Ms. Priest also enjoyed sewing, gospel song writing on occasion, and loved playing piano. She was devoted to family and always enjoyed time spent surrounded by her loved ones. She loved traveling and in her later years, she toured many states, traveling with family and groups of her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dallas Priest; son, Terry Priest; and brother, Cecil Weaver. Ms. Priest is survived by her sister, Wilma Irene Hasty, son Tim (Shanon) Priest; daughters Lisa (Troy) Lee and Wanda Priest; daughter-in-law, Gayle Priest; eight grandchildren Steve Priest, Jennifer Priest, Justin Lee, T.J. (Kasie) Lee, Kelsi (Colton) Roberts, Taylor (Travis) Rollins, Morgan (Jacob) Franklin and Dillen Priest; and seven great grandchildren; Luke and Logan Lee, Skylar and Ella Roberts, Thompson and Frankie Rollins, and Ollie Franklin.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, with interment at Little Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery. Family visitation will begin at 9 AM. The family will receive friends at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home from 10:00 to 12:00 PM.
