Gerlean Gautney Hammond, 84, of Rogersville, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital. She retired from Lauderdale County Board of Education as a special needs bus driver and classroom aide. She was a member of Rogersville Church of Christ, a master seamstress and gardener.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 26th from 1 – 3 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home with funeral service following in the chapel. Burial will be in Civitan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny McKelvey, Jason McKelvey, Jasper Hammond, Joshua Hammond, Slade Sartain and Spencer Sartain.
Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus, and Delpha Gautney; husband, Kenneth Hammond; sisters, Inez Whitman, Eula Mae Varnell and Christine Blankenship and brother, Clellon Gautney. She is survived by her children, Linda (Ron) Whitehurst, Wendell (Amy) Hammond, Nancy (Patrick) Sartain and Kaye Hammond; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
