Gerard D. Dowd, better known as Jerry, age 74, Hamilton, AL passed away Sunday, March 09, 2014 at UAB, in Birmingham, AL.He was born Friday, September 01, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA and raised in New Jersey.

He was a steam locomotive enthusiast, old car restorer, Nascar fan, and a breeder of tropical fish. Started playing little league baseball as a pitcher and loved the game his whole life. He was learning to be a farmer and enjoyed driving and working on his tractor.

He was in the pleasure boat building business for years. Later on he worked to promote uniform legislation for transportation of these

crafts throughout the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Dowd; brother, Frank Dowd; sisters, Bea Collier and Norma Myers.

Survived by his wife, Beverly Dowd; daughter, Cindy Collison; sons, Jerry and Jeff Dowd grandsons, Brent and Justin.

To our extended family near and far, thank you for your support and prayers. Blessings to Delores and Ron England, Christine Ludlam, Bob and Mary Olmstead, Beth and daughter, Emily Olmstead, Larry and Peg Myers, Debbie and David Murray, Mary Sue Gann,

Charlie and Emily Sill. You all know why.
