Graveside Services for Mrs. Geraldine “Gerri” Yates Shaddix, age 86 of Ashland, will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Lineville City Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Colquit officiating.
Mrs. Shaddix passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023. She was born in Clay County on October 17, 1936 and graduated from Mellow Valley School. After graduating, she worked at a photography studio and Russell Mills in Alexander City prior to meeting her husband of almost 65 years, Charles “Sonny” Shaddix. When they married and started a family, she became the consummate homemaker and caregiver, and spent the entirety of her life nurturing her marriage, her children, and her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly.
Mrs. Shaddix is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles “Sonny” Shaddix; two daughters: Cyndee Calloway(Joey) of Clanton, Joy Woods(Mike) of Vestavia; a son, Alan Shaddix(Staci) of Pell City; six grandchildren: Tanner Jennings of Sacramento, CA, Chance Calloway(Amy) of Clanton, Anna Shaddix and Erica Shaddix of Pell City, Noah Woods and Ethan Woods of Mount Olive; one great-grandchild, Ryan Cleckley of Clanton; one sister, Judy Yates Owsley of Dadevlle; one brother, Rusty Yates(Jan) of Wetumpka, plus several nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Hubert Yates and Ruth Stephens Jett Yates; one infant child, William Lee Shaddix; one sister, Cauline Yates McCain; and three brothers, Lloyd Yates, Harold Yates and OB Yates.
