Gerald Max Sims

Gerald Max Sims, age 86, of Florence, went to be with Christ on Thursday, August 8, 2024 surrounded by the love, prayers, and thanksgiving of his family. Visitation will be Monday, August 12th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Central Baptist Church of Florence. The service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church with Brother Jono Sims officiating. There will be a private burial for family after the service. Grandsons and sons-in-laws will serve as pallbearers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JC and Lucile Sims; wife, Anna Louise Peck Sims.

Survivors are his sons, Marty Sims (Donna) and Jonathan “Jono” Sims (Kala); grandchildren, Bailey Graham (Tanner), Evan Sims, Emily Stewart (Kevin), Aimee Branson (Joshua), Julie McClanahan (Stephen), and Nathan Sims (Emma), Ashleigh McAnally (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Brooks, Audrey, Max, Miles, Hank, and Wade.

The most important fact about Gerald Sims was that he was a committed and lifelong follower of Jesus Christ and was committed to his local church, Central Baptist, where he served as minister of worship.

Gerald was married to his late wife, Anna Louise for 61years. He was born in Hamilton, Alabama and graduated from Hamilton High School. He was a real estate broker and an agent for Met Life. He was a life-long bi-vocational worship minister serving numerous churches in the Colbert-Lauderdale Baptist Association. Williams Funeral Home of Florence directing.
