Gerald Lamar “Andy” Anderson, 89, went to heaven Saturday, November 4, 2017. He was doing what he loved, riding with family on the county roads of northeast Mississippi, when he transitioned to heaven. Andy was married to the love of his life, Martha Brady Anderson, for 63 years until her death in August of 2013. As a much loved and admired man of God he read the Bible, lived the Bible and taught the Bible. He faithfully served the Lord at Harrisburg Church in Tupelo, Emmanuel Church in Grenada, and was a charter member of Cherokee Baptist in Memphis, Tn. Never failing to do anything asked of him, he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. As a Korean war veteran he served his country as faithfully as he did his Lord giving his life to Christ while in the service. After his time in the service he returned home to his young family in Memphis, TN. Andy retired from the phone company after 41.5 years and then worked at Bancorpsouth for 17 years. After retirement he weekly visited the hospital, the nursing homes, and shut-ins. The best description of him was a keen wit, a great sense of humor, and was known to tease people. Andy never looked nor acted his age. He began life in an orphanage but lived life as a Moses showing us the way to the Promised Land. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Brady Anderson and his parents.
Being a family man he is survived by his 7 children: Susan McMahan, Deborah Ransom(Richard), Reverend Ken Anderson(Candy), Rebecca Coe, Bonnie Herrington(Chuck), Toby Anderson(Jeannine) and Stacy Willingham(Matt).
He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Chad and Jeremy McMahan, Brennan Anderson, Jo Geiger,
Charlie Herrington, Tyler, Brady, and McCarty Anderson, Nick Coe, Kori Creel, Matt Ellis and Blade Burroughs.
