Georgia Mariah (Jerome) Aweau

Georgia Mariah (Jerome) Aweau, 97, of Huntsville, Alabama peacefully passed Saturday, February 4, 2023, surrounded by family.

She was born January 12, 1926, in Bessemer, Alabama. She was a longtime member of West Huntsville Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir. She worked at Lee’s Magic Tunnel Car Wash in Huntsville doing bookkeeping and payroll for 50 years.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jessie Blackwell; husband, Clarence Aweau; two sons, David Aweau and Michael Aweau; one sister, Valeria Blackwell; two brothers, Johnny Blackwell and Wilbur Blackwell; sister in-law, Annelle Blackwell; niece Patsy Bingham.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Larry) Bailey; son, Greg Aweau (Kate); daughter in-law, Peggy Aweau; seven grandchildren, Stacy Vincent (Jeff), Kristen (Ryan) Comfort, Katie Bailey, Kevin (Sarah) Bailey, Jamison Aweau, Jesse Aweau, and Jody Aweau; six great-grandchildren, Michael Vincent, Gracie Vincent, Jackson Comfort, Alex Comfort, Jayne Comfort, and Magnolia Bailey; two nephews, Jeffery Blackwell, Troy (Gina) Blackwell; three nieces Tammy (Greg) Lawson, Penny (Jeff) Hovis, Tressy Ferguson; and a number of great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Spry Funeral Home 2411 Memorial Parkway NW Huntsville, Al 35810 with a service to follow. Burial ceremony will follow the service at Valhalla Memorial Gardens 698 Winchester Road NE Huntsville, Al 35811.
