Montgomery Advertiser Obituaries in Montgomery, AL | Montgomery Advertiser Paschall, Georgia Bibb Tweedy, age 87 of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away January 4, 2024. Mrs. Paschall was born in Birmingham, AL on July 4, 1936. She was the daughter of Charles Enzer Tweedy, Jr. and Eliza Lee Miller Tweedy, and was raised in Jasper, AL. Following boarding school in Gulf Park, MS, she attended the University of Alabama, where she pledged Kappa Delta and made many lifelong friends. After a year at the University of Alabama, she transferred to Vanderbilt University and graduated, cum laude, double majoring in biology and chemistry. She affiliated with Kappa Delta at Vanderbilt University where she served as Secretary.

After college, she moved to Birmingham, where she worked with Southern Research and taught biology and chemistry at Berry High School. She was presented at the Presentation Ball of the Spinster’s Cotillion Club in Birmingham. While living in Birmingham, she decided to attend Duke University to earn a master’s degree in education.

During her years at Duke, she married the love of her life, Thomas Mason Paschall, in 1965. They lived a short while in Uniontown, AL, before moving to Coral Gables, FL, Long Island, NY and making their home in Atlanta. In Atlanta, she was active in the lives of her children and made a point of attending their track meets, baseball games, piano, chorale, and musical performances, all while volunteering countless hours with the Parents of Westminster Schools (PAWS) organization. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Alabama and loved attending Colonial Dames meetings as well as reunions with friends from Jasper, Birmingham, and Tuscaloosa. When her grandchildren were born, she became a devoted grandmother who traveled extensively with her children and grandchildren for family trips and sporting events. Throughout her life, her family and friends deeply appreciated her positive encouragement and selfless love. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Jasper, AL, and was the first person christened at the church. Mrs. Paschall remained a faithful Episcopalian through her service to St. Mary’s, Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Atlanta, and Camp McDowell. With her support, the vision for Bethany Village at Camp McDowell became a reality.

Mrs. Paschall is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Mason Paschall of Atlanta, GA, her children, Eliza Lee Paschall Petznick and husband Dr. Paul Gaston Petznick of Mountain Brook, AL and Charles Thomas Paschall of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren Gaston Lee Petznick and Sarah Bibb Petznick of Mountain Brook, AL, Joseph Mason Paschall, Lila Grace Paschall, and Emily Paschall of Los Angeles, CA; and Dr. Charles E. Tweedy III (Katherine) of Doylestown, PA. Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Jasper, AL, directed by Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Jasper, AL, with burial following in Oakhill Cemetery. The Reverend Paul Elliott officiating. A reception will be held at the church following burial. The family requests that memorials be given to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace, Jasper, AL 35504, Camp McDowell at 105 Delong Rd., Nauvoo, AL 35578, or the Conde Charlotte Museum House Memorial Trust, 104 Theater Street, Mobile, AL 36602.
