George Willie Gray, age 66 of Athens, formerly of Double Springs, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
He was born March 29, 1957 to Willie and Lucy Gray. George was an avid Alabama fan. He loved watching westerns, wrestling, and old movies. George loved going to “Bingo” at his apartment complex and buying as many lottery tickets as possible. He loved hitchhiking around the world, picking at his great nephew “Jack Jack” and talking smack with his best friend, Charlie.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Nichols Funeral Home Double Springs from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, where the Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon. Ric Sanchez will officiate.
George is survived by his brother, Larry (Cathy) Gray; sisters, Betty (Paul) Jackson, Patricia (David) Wallace; nephews, Brandon, Chad, Buddy, and Cory; nieces, Tina, Angela, Paula, Tasha, Kristie, and Jaycee; 19 great nieces and six great nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wille and Lucy Gray; sister, Louise Stamos; brothers, Bill Garrison and Jessie Gray; grandmother, Lizzie Beasley; and nephews, Daniel Gray and Jonny Wallace
