George Washington Vandiver
GW gained his heavenly wings Monday, August 19, 2024 at home. He was 85 years old.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years, Judith Vandiver; daughters, Tracy Vandiver and Shelia Baker (Tim); his only grandson, Justin Cornelison; his brother, Ray Vandiver, Tuscumbia; and sister, Elizabeth Hester, Tuscumbia. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, H.E. and Lizzie Vandiver; brothers, Willie Vandiver, Archie Vandiver, John Vandiver; sisters, Lecie Green, and Evelyn Johnson.

GW worked 26 years at Robbins Tire and Rubber Co. and 19 years at Harden Mfg. He was a member at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. Before he got sick, he loved attending church and loved all gospel music. He also loved to be outside, working in his garden and flowers.

GW was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family as well as all those who knew him.

We would like to say a special thank you to Alabama Hospice of the Shoals. Special thanks to his nurse Kandice Lauderdale, as well as all the staff.

Visitation will be held at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville, Alabama on Friday, August 23 from 12:00-2:00 PM. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Mike Norton from Mt. Hebron officiating.

Pallbearers will be Justin Cornelison, Robbie Cornelison, Shane Baker, Eddie Vandiver, David Johnson, and Jonathan Johnson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ethan Trapp.
