George Walter Lent Jr., age 80 of Sheffield, formally of Torrington, CT, passed away on August 8, 2024.  George will have military honors with a private military burial at sea.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Santa Lent, one brother Philip A. Lent. George was widowed by two wives: Marion Mostyn Lent and Carol Knight Lent.

George is survived by his children, Anita Parker, Marion Lent and Ruth-Sarah Mazzaferro.  His grandchildren, Alexandre Lent, Tessa Parker, Caleb Parker, Isaiah Parker (Jade) and Isabella Mazzaferro.  His great-grandchildren, Skylar Parker, Abigail Parker, Claire Parker and Eric Parker.  As well as many nieces, their spouses and family members.

George graduated from OWTS in Torrington, Connecticut.  Served in the United States Marine Corp as an aircraft electrician.  His signature is on the moon left by Apollo 13 from his time at the United Aircraft Hamilton Standard.  George also owned his own bicycle shop “POP Cycle Shop”.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, model railroads, traveling to Maine and Lancaster County, PA, and gardening.  As well as Tres Dias and Easy Peddlers bicycle trips.  Volunteering at Harwinton Westside Fire Department and spending time with family and his beloved pets.  He loved wildlife, especially wolves; they were his passion.  In his later years he reminisced about his life in the USMC.
