It is with great regret that we announce the passing of George Walter Johnson, age 81, of Ardmore, Alabama. George passed away at Huntsville Hospital Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
He was born February 22, 1942, to Nathan Uly, Sr. and Mamie Sue (McNeese) Johnson in Ardmore, AL. He married Patricia (Mathis) Johnson on February 23, 1962.
George was a member of First Baptist Church Ardmore. He is a retired machinist from TVA Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. He is a proud Marine.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Uly, Sr. and Mamie Sue Johnson. Brothers Nathan Uly Johnson Jr., Floyd Johnson Sr., and Paul Johnson and sisters Sue Lannom and Birdie Showalter.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mathis Johnson and daughters, Diane (Emory) Rogers of Ardmore, AL and Charlotte (Dan) Owen of Taft, TN. He is also survived by his grandchildren Logan (Emily) Rogers, Donny (Bri) Rogers, Jana Owen, Clay Owen and great granddaughter, Elsie Kate Rogers.
Visitation will be Friday, December 29 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Service will be 1:00pm with Bro. Alan Hughes and Rick Shannon officiating. Graveside services will follow at Gatlin Cemetery.
