George W. “GW” Elliott, Jr., age 93, Double Springs, AL. passed away Thursday December 19, 2024. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal and 3 Bronze Stars, was a retired Truck Driver and a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Double Springs, AL.
Visitation will be Thursday December 26, 2024 from 6:00PM – 9:00PM at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Double Springs, AL. Funeral service Friday December 27, 2024 at 2:00PM at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Double Springs, AL. (LIE IN STATE 12:00NOON – 2:00PM). Burial to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dois Blanton Elliott; children, Phillip (Karen) Elliott, Tommy (Amanda) Elliott, Tim (Joanie) Elliott and Kathy (Wade) Pendergrass; daughter in law, Pam Elliott; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Malinda West Elliott; brothers and sisters, Burtis Elliott, Roy Elliott, Alvie Elliott, Marie Spears, Aileen Glaze, Zenofia Nace and Leofia Prichett; son, Roger Elliott.
