George Robert Davis left this earth for his eternal home on April 13, 2022, following a brief illness. George was born in New Market, Alabama on August 14, 1932, to Marvin and Geneva Davis. He was a graduate of New Market High School and graduated University of North Alabama. Following two years in the US Army, serving in Europe and the USA, George returned to Alabama and made Huntsville his home. He worked at the Army Missile Command on Redstone Arsenal and later at Raytheon until his retirement. George was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville where he served in many capacities including deacon. He served meals through Meals on Wheels in Huntsville for many years. He was a man who showed complete kindness to all who knew him. He lived well and when he took his last breath on earth immediately heard “well done good and faithful servant” by the Lord. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Shirley McDaniel Davis, and his only child George Robert Davis, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Charlotte Beacham Davis; brother, Monte Davis and wife Jo; four grandsons, Matt, Taylor, Jud, and Peyton Davis; stepdaughter, Jenny Allen, her four daughters; six great-grandchildren; several nephews; and a host of dear friends. George lived, served, and loved well – his family, church, friends, and community. His life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16 at First Baptist Church, Huntsville, with visitation at 11 and the celebration of life will be at noon in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to First Baptist Church or Meals on Wheels in his honor.
