Rick’s soul was saved at the Hall Street Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY, where his faith flourished. His most cherished Christian pursuits included going with his Dad to deliver food to shut-ins and later on working with kids as a Sunday school teacher at Sugar Grove Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY.

Throughout his professional life, he dedicated his time and skills to various institutions, including the City of Owensboro, River Valley Behavioral Health, and the City of Columbia, where he served as the director of the MIS department until his well-earned retirement.

Beyond his professional achievements, Rick was a culinary enthusiast with a passion for creating and experimenting with his own recipes. His steak and ribs, in particular, earned him the well-deserved nickname “grill master” while his chili recipe has evolved into a competition-worthy version. He loved cooking for his family and cherished weekend visits from his beloved grandchildren who endearingly call him “Pappy”.

Rick had a deep love for music, with a special affinity for progressive/alternative rock. His favorite artists, Yes and James Taylor, provided the soundtrack to many memorable moments in his life. Additionally, he found joy in engaging his mind with word puzzles, including the NY Times Crossword and Wordle, among others.

Rick is survived by his loving wife: Fer Annie Harrison; daughter: Leigh Lucier (Nick); stepsons: Miguel and Patrick; grandchildren: Aribel, Absalom, and Malachi; sister: Annette Carter (Ronnie); nephews: Matthew and Michael; and aunt: Janette Orr.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. The service for Rick will be Monday, January 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rick Elsey officiating and a visitation starting at 10:00 AM prior to the service.

Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
