George Lyle Anderson Sr was born Tuesday, October 15, 1946, in Pikeville, Tennessee to the late William Taft Anderson and Mattie Francis Austin Anderson. George Lyle Anderson Sr departed from this life Friday, May 6,2022 at home with his son by his side. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a sister that died at birth, and his wife Patricia Ann Anderson of 34 years. George is survived by his only son George Lyle Anderson Jr and spouse Iwalani. One grandson Bryton Rutledge. George Anderson Sr also leaves behind lifelong friends Newton Snow and Harvey May.

George Lyle Anderson Sr graduated from Van Buren County High in 1963, joined the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War as an E-4 Specialist. He was also a Demolition Expert, Sheriff Deputy for Van Buren County and retired from the State of Tennessee for 36 years as a Correctional Officer. George Anderson Sr had a photographic memory and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with everyone around him. He was a firearms enthusiast and enjoyed the outdoors of hunting and fishing.

Visitation will be Monday, May 9, 2022, from 6pm to 9pm, and Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 11am till time of Service at 1pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 1:00pm in the Layne’s Chapel with Brother Wayne Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Fraser Chapel Cemetery with Military Full Honors.
