George Hurst of Huntsville passed away on June 12, 2019. Mr. Hurst was born on December 1, 1942 near Pulaski, TN to Howard Hurst and Mattie Lean Randall Hurst. At age 17, he enlisted in the Air Force and received training in air plane maintenance and electronics. In 1968, he moved to Huntsville, beginning his electronics career at SCI and retiring from Phoenix Microsystems. George was a mechanic, inventor, adventurer and lover of animals. He enjoyed working in his garage, scuba diving and traveling.
Survivors include his daughter, Denise (Bobby) Lehman of Madison; son Ken Hurst of Ardmore, TN; granddaughter Jordan Lehman and grandson Stefan Lehman, both of Madison; sister, Rose Marie Cartee of Pulaski, TN; nieces Carol J Rice, Faye J Foster and nephew Chuck Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Harvey Hurst and sister Angelia Wilson.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019, 1:00 pm at Stella Cemetery in Giles County, TN.
