George Henry Maginnis, age 91, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at his residence.

George was born August 9, 1932, in New London, Connecticut, to the late Arthur E. and Marguerite Sullivan Maginnis. He was a University Professor at Western Carolina University for many years after receiving his Ed.D. from Ole Miss. He was an avid runner from the age of 40 to age 80. Running was truly his passion and stress relief. He was very involved in Kiwanis International and served as president for several years. He was a generous and kind man to all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur Maginnis.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Sue Maginnis of Spring Hill; daughter, Dawn Rochelle Hunter of Spring Hill; son, Michael Van Hunter of Woodstock, VA; two granddaughters, Kelsey (Andrew) Giles of Lewisburg, and Kaitlyn Hunter; two great grandchildren, Leland and Jaylon.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

London Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
