George Edward Cothran, 70, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 from pulmonary fibrosis.

Born May 17, 1952, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Edward Eugene and Georgia Quattlebaum Cothran. He was a United States Army Veteran and a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School. Dr. Cothran continued his education at Clemson University and MUSC. For thirty years, he celebrated with his patients as they welcomed new life.  His life reflected his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, through a steadfast love for his wife and family.  He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro, TN.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Ferguson Cothran, son, Allen Cothran (Jill) of Anderson, daughter, Kate Cothran Noblitt (Beau) from Murfreesboro, TN, and six grandchildren: Eddie, Landon, Charlie, Wyatt, Georgia, and Lincoln, and siblings: Thomas E. Cothran and Susan C. Dutt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vadis C. Mandrell, and his nephew, Taylor E. Cothran.

Memorial service will be 5:00PM Friday August 12, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1020 N. Rutherford Blvd.  Murfreesboro, TN, 37130

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, August 16, at Sullivan-King Mortuary with Rev. Allen Cothran officiating. A private burial will be held at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday evening at Sullivan-King Mortuary.
