George Edward Clark, age 91 of Athens, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Clark was born May 13, 1927 in Oklahoma to Ula W. Clark and Hattie D. Clark.
Services for Mr. Clark are Monday, November 26, 2018 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kenny Baskins officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 26, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Clark was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. He was a veteran of the US Navy, a member of First United Methodist Church and the Lion’s Club. He loved his family, playing bridge and going to One Fitness Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Clark; son, Charles E. Clark (Sherree); daughter, Bonita Echols (Dan), grandchildren, Julia Pelton, Heather Hinton, Holly Clark, Chris Clark, Eric Clark and Kate Sietz; great grandchildren, Daniel, Laney, Hannah, Hattie, Maggie, Noel Isaac, Ada, Ellis, Colton and Mya Jane.
Preceded in death by his son, Don. W. Clark.
Pallbearers are Chris Clark, Brian Hinton, Jeff Pelton, Bryan Nelson, Brownie Nelson and Rand Gaylord. Honorary pallbearer is Eric Clark.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church and to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
