George Ed William “Billy” Cossett, age 54 of Decherd, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Chesapeake, Virginia, on May 2, 1970, to the late George ( Emily Kate (York) Cossett Sr.
Known locally as ” Mr. Ford 6.0″, his life long dream came to fruition in 2011 when he became the proud owner/operator of “Billy’s Diesel Shop” where he loved working and hanging out with his “brothers” Unknown to many, Billy had discovered his talent when built his first engine at 8 yrs old with his Grandfather.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, scuba diving and hunting in his younger years and more recently kayaking, as well as working with animals and on the farm with his wife, Jenny.
Billy loved being at home and cherished the time spent with his beloved family and friends. He tried to live every day to the fullest and strived to make others feel better when they were having a hard time. His caring nature, always ready to lend a hand, will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Cossett; and Godfather, Wayne Taylor. Billy is survived by his loving wife, Jenny Cossett; step-daughter, Jessica Huneault; step-granddaughter, Lara Bernatchez; brothers, Woody (Gwen) Cossett, and Kenny Cossett; nephews, Seth Cossett, Steven Cossett, and Brandon Cossett; nieces, Haley Cossett, Alyssa Cossett, Emily Cossett, and Kayla Cossett; Godmother, Sharon Taylor; Godbrother, Bobby “Joe” Baucom; God niece, Cheyenne Baucom; God nephew, Hunter Baucom; and beloved four-legged best friend, Raven.
