George E. “Porky” Ivey – Obituary

George E. “Porky” Ivey, age 60 of Tuscumbia, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017. His family will receive friends Saturday, May 13, 11-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Steve Pochop officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery.

George was employed with Vulcan Material as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Abundant Grace Church. George was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. George was a good hearted man who loved people and never met a stranger. He also loved his horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Kathleen Ivey; step-son, Daryl Sizemore; brother, David Ivey; and father-in-law, Dan Willis.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Ivey; son, Anthony Ivey (Jerica); step-son, Brent Sizemore; daughter, Christie Ivey Hamner; brothers, Jackie Ivey, Rickey Ivey (Kim); sisters, Margaret Bates (Jimmy), Judy Olive; grandchildren, Jordahn, Baylee and Cameron Ivey; step-grandchildren, Trent and Addie Sizemore; mother-in-law, Melvina Willis; special nephew, Jack Ivey along with a host of other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Alan Mobley, Derrick Howard, Randy Byrd, Grant Stanfield, Ricky Clingan and Jerry Cagle. Honorary pallbearers are the Pride, Cherokee, Tuscumbia, and Russellville employees of Vulcan Materials.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
