It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Droukas on December 2nd, 2022 at age 62.

George was born in Larissa, Greece to parents Demetrios and Dimitra Droukas. He is survived by his brother, Nick; son, Daniel; and life partner Lisa; as well as her children, their spouses, and grandchildren for whom he was a loving father and grandfather figure.

George immigrated to New York City in 1977 where he attended technical college, began his career in electronics repair and lent a hand at the family’s Astoria bakery. He moved to Huntsville, Alabama in the early 1980s where he founded American Video Services and later TV Tech Parts.

Throughout his life George found joy and purpose through woodcraft. His talent lives on through the countless pieces of custom furniture and projects that still reside in the homes of friends and loved ones.

George was a kind and patient teacher and unconditionally willing to help others in times of need. He was very quick witted and put others at ease through his warmth and sense of humor. His smile and laugh will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7th from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on the following day, Thursday, December 8th in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Maple Hill Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.

To honor his appreciation for nature, in lieu of flowers the family would ask that a donation in George’s name be made to the Land Trust of North Alabama. (https://www.landtrustnal.org/protecting-nature/)
