George Billingsley Fletcher, 80, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday morning, July 17th, 2024. George was born to Doris Crockett Billingsley and Jack Turnor Fletcher in Alexandria, Louisiana. He attended AG Parrish High School in Selma, Alabama, Tuscaloosa High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He had a 35-year career in education as a teacher and coach. He coached football and track at Butler High School and Huntsville High School. After his retirement from Huntsville City Schools, he was a track and field official for various athletic conferences including the SEC.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty; son Ley Fletcher, daughter-in-law, Holly Fletcher; daughter, Merritt Fletcher Evripidou; and granddaughter, Lindsey Fletcher.

A celebration of life will be announced later.
