George Beesley Huddleston, Jr., passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, after an eight-year battle with cancer. Known for his faith, service, and boundless love for his family, George leaves behind a legacy of kindness, leadership, and adventure.
Born on December 10, 1958, to Mary Keeble “Kib” Harrison Huddleston and the late George Beesley Huddleston, Sr., George grew up with a deep appreciation for family and community. A graduate of The Webb School (1976) and Vanderbilt University (1980), he later dedicated over 35 years to the family business, Huddleston Oil Company. Following his retirement, George turned his energy toward volunteer work, touching countless lives through his service.
George’s love for his family was at the heart of everything he did, as he cherished moments spent with his wife Tracey and his children, George III, Anna, and Zach. Some of his happiest times were shared with his son George III, bonding over their mutual love for the outdoors, motorsports, and Vanderbilt athletics. He also took great joy in mentoring Zach, passing on valuable life lessons while sharing special moments shooting, boating, and attending sporting events. George relished every moment with his family, always finding joy in celebrations, gatherings, and the laughter of his grandchildren.
An avid pilot, George’s passion for flying extended beyond the skies. He delighted in using his skills to serve others, volunteering for medical flights and sharing his love for aviation with his community. His long-standing roles on the Murfreesboro Airport Commission and Tennessee Aeronautics Commission reflected his dedication to making aviation more accessible and impactful.
George was deeply involved in his community, serving on the boards of Alive Hospice and The Webb School. He was also an officer of the Sportsman’s Club for many years, where he shared his enthusiasm for outdoor activities and fellowship. A proud Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow, George embodied the spirit of “Service Above Self,” contributing to countless projects and mentoring future leaders.
George was also one of the founding members of Fellowship United Methodist Church, where he shared his faith and cultivated enduring relationships with his church family. As a member of First United Methodist Church, one of his favorite ministries was teaching the Bible Zone class.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Tracey Huddleston; his son George III of Winter Park, FL (wife Liana and sons Logan and Paxton); his daughter Anna Farmer of Raleigh, NC (husband Peter and children Thompson, James, and Lucy); his son Zach Ring of Cookeville, TN (wife Allison); his mother Kib Huddleston of Murfreesboro, TN; his brother Henry Huddleston of Arrington, TN (wife Chris and sons Alex, Clay, and Reid); and his sisters Mary Earthman of Nashville, TN (husband John and daughter Anne) and Elizabeth Huddleston of Asheville, NC (wife Wendy).
