Graveside service for George Allen Holmes Sr. will be Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Courtland Memorial Gardens with Terry Bohannon officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Mr. Holmes died Monday, Oct. 8, at Ashton Hall in Lawrenceville. He was born Dec. 26, 1929, in Charleston, S.C., to Boyd Holmes and Lila Delaughter Holmes. Mr. Holmes was a self-employed electronic technician and he served in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean Powell Holmes and a son, George Allen Holmes Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Georgia Jean Holmes Yates of Arkansas; four sons, James Holmes of Courtland, Daniel Holmes of Tennessee, Joe Holmes of Florida and Kelly Holmes of Georgia; one sister, Elain Johnson of Edgefield, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
