Genevieve DeLong Bouldin

Genevieve DeLong Bouldin, age 89, went to be with her Lord on September 15, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Hospital. A Spencer resident and a Van Buren County native, Genevieve was born on September 20, 1931 to the late Arzie and Cleo Hitchcock DeLong and grew up in the Cedar Grove community. During the 1960s and early 1970s, she served Van Buren County families by working for the Federal Government’s Office of Economic Opportunity. She also worked for Spinlon Southern for a number of years. Genevieve was a member of the Spencer Church of God. She was a homemaker and enjoyed singing and gardening. Above all, she loved her family.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford Leon Bouldin; sister and brother-in law, Mevolyn and James Robert Haston; niece, Angela Haston; in-laws, T. B. and Notie Bouldin and brother-in-law, Mack Palmer.

Genevieve is survived by her loving family; son, Lanny Thomas Bouldin of Spencer; daughter, Alisa Bouldin (Kenny) Farmer of Spencer; brothers, Lambert (Carol) DeLong of Kingsport, TN, Charles (Carolyn) DeLong of McMinnville; sisters, Glenda (Willis) Hale of Merritt Island, FL, Cleta (Carl) Bouldin of McMinnville; grandchildren, Kendra Farmer of Spencer and Ethan (Scarlett) Farmer of Sparta, great-grandchildren; Oren Blake and Eleanor Kate Farmer.  Nieces, nephews, and a large extended family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday September 19, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Jason Graham and Bro. Gene Brock officiating.  Burial will follow in the Long Cemetery.  Visitation times are, Saturday 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Sunday 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
