Geneva E. Wright, 94 of Maylene, formerly of Sumiton, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her bedside on Saturday April 9, 2022.
Geneva was a homemaker who enjoyed the precious time spent with family. She was known for the delicious meals she prepared from the vegetables in their garden. Her fried chicken, butterbeans, corn bread and single layer cake with chocolate icing were family favorites! She was a kind, generous soul who loved the Lord, her family and her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Farlon Sanders and Ola Thomas Sanders, the love of her life, husband Austin Wright; son, Dennis Jackson Wright; sisters, Catherine (Margaret) Earnest; brothers, Thomas, Rabon and Alton Sanders and special sister-in-law, Wilma Clark.
Geneva is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Mitchell, Karen (Tom) Deaver and Melissa (Steve) Cook; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Beard; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives that she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be Wednesday April 13, 22 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Gene Cook will officiate. Burial will follow at the Phillips Family Cemetery of Dilworth (Dilworth Church of God). Visitation is Wednesday from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
The family wants to recognize Hatley Health Care and their caring staff, who gave loving care to Geneva in the time leading up to her passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate if people would be kind enough to make a donation to the church or favorite charity of their choice.
