Genene Askew, 81, born June 15, 1942 of Muscle Shoals passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2023 from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 12 p.m. in the chapel. Brother Tim Justice will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Genene was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She cherished her church family and they showed her much love. Special thanks to her friends, family, and Gentiva Hospice for their devoted care, support and many acts of kindness. She loved her Lord with all of her heart. Proverbs 31:10 “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 wonderful years, Garry Don Askew; parents, Hubert Hinton and Virgie May Moss; sisters, Melba Hyde and Iva Joe Hinton; brother, Marcus Moss; nieces, Melissa Baughman and Kimberly Howard; and nephew, Kenny Hyde.
She is survived by her daughters, Regina Dennis (Steve), and Betty Ann Crawford (Brad); grandchildren who are the “sunshine’s” of her life, Lindsey Sizemore (Michael), and Haley Dennis (Tyler Forsberg); sisters, Teresa Howard (Butch), Paula Gist (Ricky), and Brenda Moss; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
