Barbara Genell Bailey  Genell Bailey, 85, of Athens, AL, passed away on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at her home.
Mrs. Bailey was born on June 28th, 1937, in Limestone County, to William Bee Evans and Vona Lynn Evans.
Mrs. Bailey was married to Jimmy Bailey for sixty-seven years. She was a faithful Christian, the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and every other family role she filled. She had a true servant’s heart, and everyone was welcome in her home. She was the best cook and storyteller. You could often find her great-grandchildren in her lap with one of their favorite books. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Bee and Vona Lynn Evans; son Colin William Bailey; great-grandson Case McRae Hardy; siblings Virginia Day, and Redus Evans.
She is survived by her husband Jimmy Bailey; son Jeffrey Lynn Bailey (Joyce); daughter Lorie Bailey Davis (Max); eight grandchildren Laura Davis Clark (Daniel), Adam Davis, Clay Bailey (Lisa Jean), Matthew Bailey (Paige), Craig Davis (Allyson), Taylor Bailey Hardy (Chaz) Emily Bailey, and Britney Bailey; eight great-grandchildren Hayden Clark, Bailey Davis, Jackson Bailey, Macy Jean Bailey, Cole Davis, Sawyer Clark, Luke Bailey, and Brinley Hardy; siblings Helen Taylor (Marv), Diane Conley, Randy Evans (Sherry), and Beth Worthey (Don); and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bailey will be Monday, May 22nd, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Kevin Harrington and Lavaughn Davis officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 21st, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clay Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Adam Davis, Craig Davis, Daniel Clark, Randy Evans, Chaz Hardy, and Carter Richardson
