Gene McClaran, 68 of Union Grove died Friday December 1, 2023. Mr. McClaran was born February 7, 1955 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Robert E. McClaran and Doris C. Brannon McClaran. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, served in the United States Marines, a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and was a retired Correctional Officer with the Alabama Department of Corrections.
Gene is survived by his children: Gena Hamilton (Daniel), Rita Lowery (Michael) and Morgan Cochran; two grandkids: Aubrey Lowery and Austin Lowery; two brothers: Quentin McClaran (Tammy) and Jon McClaran (Brandi); several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many dear friends and neighbors. He was preceded by his father: Robert McClaran, mother: Doris Archer and brothers: Gary McClaran and Bill Cavender.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday December 3, 2023 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, Brother Mike Mims, officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be at Shoal Creek Baptist Church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.
