Gene Edward Woodard, age 64, of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 27, 2024. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late James Ronald and Wilma Evans Woodard.

Known for his sense of humor and the phrase “I’ll give you something to cry about,” Gene was a man who loved working with his hands and had a natural talent for it. He took great pride in watching his children participate in sports, often getting involved as a coach or umpire. His “fur babies” held a special place in his heart, and he was also an excellent cook, famous for preparing many memorable birthday cakes. Many people enjoyed his style of storytelling as well.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Woodard and Steve Woodard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Woodard, and his children: Torie, Rebecca, and Nicholas (Jazel) Woodard. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Nathaniel, Catherine, Sophia, Alexandra, and Thomas. Gene is further survived by his siblings Ty (John) Woodard, Craig (Betty) Woodard, John (Sherry) Woodard, and Ronny (Carla) Woodard, as well as sisters-in-law Sheryl Woodard and Kimberly Woodard, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
