Gene Deaton, 82, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending church services when he could. Gene’s work as an appliance repair technician was also his favorite hobby. He loved tinkering and fixing anything he could, and he knew all about appliances. He was one of the kindest men around and did not have a single mean bone in his body. He was as country as they come and loved his family and his pets more than anything. Gene is survived by his wife, Suzanne Deaton; his children, Deborah Thorne (Steve), Dianne Henson (Nickey), Jessica Daily (Chris), Kristie Sowards, and Kim Amerson; his grandchildren, Cassie Pharr (Ben), Andrew Thorne (Laura), Chasidy Byrd (Zac), Mandi Henson, Adam Henson (Maddie), Natalie Storment, Baylor Storment, Xzaviar Dailey, Kingston Dailey, Tyler Cavness (Ashley), Daniel Sowards, Kellie Burks (BJ), Dylan Amerson (McKenna), Colten Epperson, Jeremy Amerson (Zoei), and Caden Ham; twelve great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ed Deaton (Helen), Donald Deaton (Brenda), Lester Deaton (Derissa), and Linda Holland (June); his great friends, Lanny Ham and Clay Mullins; and his beloved pets, Rudy, Peanut, Buddy, Niki, and Miss Kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Beatrice Deaton; his siblings, Earline Carlisle, Henry Deaton, and Steve Deaton; his daughter, Kathie Sowards; and his adored dog, Waylon. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Jerry George. Pallbearers include Caden Ham, Ben Pharr, Zac Byrd, Andrew Thorne, Clay Mullins, and Jeremy Amerson. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
