Gene David Goulooze entered his heavenly home early Sunday morning, June, 9, 2024. He joined his dear wife, Ruth who preceded him in 2012. He was born February 18, 1928 to Martin and Kate Goulooze in Rockford Michigan. He lived most of his life in Grand Rapids until 2014 when he moved with his son to Jackson, TN.
In his early years He became a successful businessman who was Vice President of F.W. Grotenhuis Underwriters. Following that he was CEO/CFO of the Sonneveldt Company.
Gene was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior. He served for many years on the boards of Gospel Films, Grand Rapids Youth for Christ, and Bibles for India. After retirement in the 1990’s, he founded New Creation Prison Ministries. Through this ministry he fulfilled his passion to reach the lost with the redemptive love of Jesus. He authored Paths Worth Choosing, a devotional for prisoners used in prisons across the country.
He is survived by a daughter Janet (Jim) Brown and a son David (Kathy) Goulooze. Eight grandchildren: Kristin (Brad) Riley, Kate (Mark) Hanna, Ben Brown (Erica), Betsy (Colton) Martinez, Sally (Juan) Hernandez, Nick Goulooze and 12 great grandchildren. Also, a dear friend, Janie Hickman.
Gene will be remembered for his wise counsel, always speaking the truth, generosity to family and Christian organizations as well as a faithful prayer warrior. But, most importantly he will be remembered for his love for sharing Jesus with everyone. Countless lives were changed because of his willingness to be used by God.
SERVICES: A visitation honoring Gene’s life for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Arrington Funeral Directors beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until 7:00 p.m.
