Gene Autry Franks

Gene Autry Franks, 83, of Russellville, Alabama entered into rest on September 21, 2021 at Burns Nursing Home in Russellville.

Mr. Franks was born on March 16, 1938 in Red Bay, Alabama. Gene had a lot of friends that loved him. Gene was a member of North Highland Church in Littleville, and he loved to fish.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 2pm-3pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held at 3pm.  Brother Daniel Delaney will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashridge Cemetery in the Ashridge Community.

Gene is survived by his son, Jeff (Johnna) Franks; stepchildren, Shelly Raub, Shawnia Raub, Bruce Gottfried, Tony Gottfried, Basil (Sherry) Williams, and Phillip Williams; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Terry (Carol) Franks, Patricia Franks, Donna Copeland, and Janie (OB) Williams; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Metha Hacker Franks; daughter, Angela Yeager; stepchildren, Stanley Williams, and Randal Williams; parents, John and Addie B Franks; sisters, Evelyn (Elzo) Robins, and Betty Jean Franks; brother, Bill (Betty) Franks; niece, Melissa Lyon, and nephews, Charlie Robins, and Billy Ray “Red Bug” Robins.

A special thanks to Sedona “Catfish” and Lynlie “June Carter Cash”, and all the staff at Burns Nursing Home for the wonderful care provided and joy that you brought Gene.
