Gayther Cottles, 78, of Killen died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at ECM Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2014, at Elkins East Chapel from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Elkins East Chapel at 11 AM, with Bro. Marty Mosley officiating. Burial will be at Bluewater Cemetery.
Mr. Cottles was a graduate of Lexington High School in 1954. He then served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. During his numerous years as a machinist he worked at TVA and Reynolds. He was a member of Springfield First Baptist Church.
Mr. Cottles was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years Dorothy Faye Cottles and parents Floyd and Ruby E. Cottles.
Mr. Cottles is survived by his two daughters Debbie Hovater and Sandy Campbell (Steve); two sisters Mary Sobek (Irvin) and Lena Hill (Howard); three brothers Jerry Cottles (Kathy), Waylon Cottles (Trudy), and Roy Cottles (Pat); four grandchildren Jonathan Campbell (Tabrina), Justin Campbell (Johna), Amber Hovater, and Jordan Hovater; three great-grandchildren Destiny Campbell, Isaiah Campbell, and Mason Hovater; several special nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Campbell, Jonathan Campbell, Justin Campbell, Phillip Cottles, Myron Davis, Robert Newton, and Isaiah Campbell.
