Gayle Sweeney Davenport passed away on August 8, 2015. Gayle was born to the late Carson W. and Mattie Driver Sweeney on January 14, 1942, in Bessemer, Alabama.
She married Leonard R. Davenport on September 18, 1964, and together they had two daughters. Her daughters, Kelly Davenport Rock (Bill) of Huntsville, and Kendall Davenport Hoffman (Dean) of Birmingham, along with her grandchildren, Barrett Rock (Erika), Zachary Rock, Jake Hoffman, and Cade Hoffman, were her greatest joy. They made her very proud. Gayle is also survived by her sister and best friend, Patricia Gladden, her nephew Neal Gladden (Kathy), niece Brenda Grounds (Cam), and many cousins whom she loved dearly.
Gayle’s life will be celebrated in a private family service, followed by her burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama.
