Funeral Services for Mrs. Gayle Jackson Hamlin, age 78 of Lineville, will be Friday, August 4, 2023 at New Fellowship Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Roger Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashland City Cemetery.

Mrs. Hamlin passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at St. Vincent’s East Hospital in Birmingham. She was born in Clay County, and as a young woman worked with her sisters at the Adam’s sewing plant. After she married her children’s father, she was primarily a stay at home wife and mother until her children were grown. Some of her children’s fondest memories included taking her children to their little league baseball games, making clothing for all of her children, and supporting all of her children’s activities. She lived in Pell City for over 40 years, and worked for the Bruno’s grocery store chain in Pell City and Irondale as a cashier for most of those years. Mrs. Hamlin was active at Cropwell Baptist Church, often baking and singing in the choir. She enjoyed doing find a word puzzles, reading her Bible, and watching TV. Mrs. Hamlin was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church, and was a loving mother, grandmother, and Sister to her family.

Mrs. Hamlin is survived by her children: Robert D. “Bobby” Hamlin (Audrey), Gene Hamlin (Sharon), both of Lineville, William Tony Hamlin (Cherri) of Riverside, Lisa Hamlin Percival (Geoff) of Eastaboga, and Jason Howard Hamlin of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jeanette Gates and Wanda Monroe, both of Millerville; three brothers: Travis Jackson (Carolyn) of Millerville, Harold Jackson (Carolyn) of Springfield, Missouri, and Bruce Jackson (Kathy) of Millerville, plus a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William Howard and Mabelle Haynes Jackson; her children’s father, Don Hamlin; three sisters: Katherine Bryant, Sara Alice Duke, and Sharon Phares; and three brothers: Milton Jackson, and two infant.

Her Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.

Her visitation will take place on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. she will lie in state at New Fellowship Baptist Church on Friday, August 4th from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
