Gayla Yvonne (Estes) Christenson, 86, of Dora, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at her residence in Dora. Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Curry Cemetery. Thomas Martin will officiate.
Yvonne or Maw as she was known to her children and grandchildren, was born July 22, 1937, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was the eldest of 6 children, three preceded her in death. Yvonne was a graduate of Curry High School. She married the late Roger Estes on August 24, 1956, and five children were born of this union. She retired after working many years at Curry Elementary lunch room. She then went on to become a licensed Real Estate Agent. She worked around 15 years and loved working in real-estate. Yvonne lost her husband of 50 plus years, Roger Estes on September 16, 2007. She remarried in 2008. She loved to work in the garden, growing vegetables, and tending her flowers. She raised 2 daughters and a son. She had 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roger Estes and Bill Christenson; children, Roger Keith and Karen Gayle Estes; parents, Sidney Richard Utley and Versie Price; siblings, Lola Vernell Ainsworth, Byron Price, and Jesse Price; grandparents, Jesse Cook and Martha Ann Wright, and Nannie Sue Price and Richard Utley; in laws, Curtis Edward Estes, and Dovie Mae Estes.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Babcock (Jay), Karla Langley (Jim), and Kip Estes (Elisha); grandchildren, Kendra Brown, Jayson Babcock, Kary Babcock, Kaleb Langley, Adam Langley, Amanda Earnest, and Laura McIlnay; siblings, Martha Childers (Elvis) and David Price (Mary Ann); in laws, Dwight Estes (Lola).
