Gayla Andre Hall Murillo, 63, New Market, passed away peacefully in the hospital surrounded by her immediate family on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, September 15, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Daniel Dulaney officiating.
A native of the Shoals area, Gayla graduated from Deshler High School, then went on to attend Athens State and Alabama A&M University, where she earned a Masters Degree in Education. She spent years as a beloved teacher, retiring from Lee High School. Gayla had a strong faith in God and fought the Good Fight of faith, never giving up. She was an inspiration to her family and to her students. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Hall.
Gayla is survived by her daughter, Autumn Murillo Jackson (Gregory); mother, Carole Gelene Terry Hall; sisters, Terri Hall (Ronnie Joe), Karla Bea Hall, and Vanessa Terry Francis (who was in reality a cousin, but was appointed by God a sister at heart); granddaughter, Isabella Grace Jackson; nieces and nephews, Candi Hall, Casey Hall, Whitney Francis, Daniel Francis, Jonathan Hall, Kyson Hall, Nevaeh Aldeir, and Harmony Beaver; and other special family members, Marilyn Terry, Natasha Talbot, Mitch Montgomery, Carlene Ridgeway, Andy Terry, Charlotte, Terry Sommersby, Paula Terry Smith, Chuck Terry, Nancy Graham, and Byron Terry.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
