Garvin Noel Hall, beloved husband, father and Paw Paw, died peacefully at his home on November 9, 2024 at the age of 90.
Noel was born on July 15, 1934 in Glen, MS to Garvin Alexander Hall and Luda Alred Hall. Next to the youngest of six children, Noel grew up on a farm and never lost his love for the farm life.
After graduating from Burnsville High School in 1953, he attended Northeast Junior College and then Mississippi State University. Noel graduated from MSU in 1957 with a degree in Dairy Manufacturing. He then served two years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. On September 6, 1959, Noel married his high school sweetheart, Diane Strickland. They began their life together in Jacksonville, FL, and later moved to New Orleans, LA. In 1965, they moved their young family to Starkville, MS where Noel managed, and later owned, Standard Laboratory. In 1978, he became the plant manager at the MSU Dairy Processing Plant. He remained at MSU until his retirement in 1998
Noel was known for his servant heart and his love for the Lord. An active member of First Baptist Church, he served as deacon and on various church committees. He was often seen driving the church van, picking up those in need of transportation to church. He also served others through the American Red Cross and Woodman Life.
Noel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Diane Strickland. They are the parents of four children: Sherry Rowe of Cripple Creek, CO; Lisa (Randy) Vaughan of Starkville, MS; David (Pam) Hall of Starkville, MS; and Keith (Ruth) Hall of Austin, TX. They have eight grandchildren: Ryan (Allison) Vaughan of Lee’s Summit, MO; Courtney (Chris) Lindahl of Seattle, WA; Jeremy (Victoria) Vaughan of Brandon, MS; Alex (Lianne)Rowe of Franklin, TN; Tyler (Melanie) Vaughan of Madison, AL; Matt (Sara) Hall of Seattle, WA; Michelle Blaskovich of Austin, TX and Melissa Blaskovich of Austin, TX. Nine great grandchildren: Tanner Vaughan, Hailey Vaughan, Lila Rowe, Sophia Vaughan, Emma Vaughan, Harrison Rowe, Silas Vaughan, Isaiah Vaughan and Maddox Hall. One sister, Betty Hall Adams of Glen, MS and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Starkville on Friday, November 15 from 10:00 to 11:00. The funeral will begin at 11:00, with the burial to follow at Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church children’s building, The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
