Garnetta S. Bailess, age 75, died on Friday, June 8, 2018 in Huntsville Hospital. From her birth, on July 13,1942 to her death, she nourished people around her with love, laughter, and music. She was born to Elmer and Lucile Smith, in Huntsville, AL, and was the youngest of three daughters. After graduating from high school, she attended the David Lipscomb in Nashville, TN, later graduating from UAH with a Nursing Degree. Left to honor and remember her are her two children, John Gregory and Lisa Bailess; two grandchildren, Andrew Gregory and Foster Gregory; a sister, Mary Alice Wilhelm; several nieces and nephews; and three adorable angels disguised as dogs. Garnetta was preceded in death by her parents, sister Myrmia Donnell, husband Lewis Earl Bailess, and so many fur babies that the rainbow bridge probably collapsed. She will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various churches she attended.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Madison Chapel Funeral Home, 8521 Hwy 72 W, Madison, AL 35758. Visitation is from 11 am to 1 pm, with the service at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Garnetta’s name to The Humane Society or The ARK Inc.
