Florence – After all the preparation, after all the tests and try-outs, after all of the hoopla, Game Day is here. Eighty-One hopeful college football players from around the world will take the field tonight at Braly Stadium for their last best shot at going Pro. There will be an array of Professional Team Scouts on hand to select the lucky players that make the cut. The scouts represent not only the American National Football League, but also the Canadian Football League and the European Football League, so there is truly an International flavor to the game.
The players have been divided up into the North and South teams. The North Team Staff will be led by re-nowned Head Coach Peter Vass, who not only has coached at the college level here in the states, but has coached several teams in the European Football League. The South Team Staff will be led by The Legendary Coach Johnny Majors, whose coaching history is well known to all football fans not only in Alabama, but all over the United States. Coach Majors was a force to be reckoned with for 15 years while Head Coach at the University of Tennessee.
At the news conference held on Thursday at the Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurant, Coach Majors again proved what most all Tennessee fans have known for years. When you hand Coach Majors a microphone, he is never at a loss for words and can talk football until someone pulls the plug without the fear of repeating himself.
The Scout Bowl had several players on hand for questions, one of the players, North Running Back #44 Roshan Lobo, drew special attention because he is from India where American Football is not a very well know game. Also on hand from the North team was Quarterback #12 Peter Lalich,, California, Wide Receiver #13 Antavian Edison, Purdue. Representing the South team was Wide Receiver #1 Michael Bowman, Alabama and Running Back #21 from West Texas A&M. All of the players expressed their enthusiam for the Scout Bowl and their desire to perform well for the Scouts. All look forward to taking the next big step to a pro career.
